The Immune System Vs. COVID-19
The immune system is a network of cells made up of antibodies, white blood cells, other chemicals and proteins that attack and destroy microorganism such as bacteria, viruses and fungi. The main function of the immune system is to protect the body from such infectious organisms and invaders.
Everyone’s immune system is different. Some people never seem to get infections, while others appear to be sick all the time. The healthy functionality of our immune system is the key to prevent, treat cancer and other sickness. Your first line of defense is to follow a healthy lifestyle. Eating a balanced and healthy diet, getting enough sleep and regular exercising is critical to maintaining a strong and healthy immune system. Unfortunately, we are a stressed-out society and we push ourselves too hard with habits like overworking, not enough sleep, too much coffee, too much sugar, and refined junk foods that we eat to temporarily relieve our stress, causing weakness in your immune system.
Immunodeficiency happen when part of the immune system is missing or not working properly. Some people are born with an immunodeficiency, although symptoms of the disorder might not appear until later in life. Immunodeficiency also can be acquired through infection or produced by drugs.
Some medicines suppress the immune system. For example, one of the disadvantages of chemotherapy treatment for cancer, is that it not only attacks cancer cells, but other fast-growing, healthy cells in the body, including those found in the bone marrow and other parts of the immune system. In addition, people with autoimmune disorders or who have had organ transplants may need to take immunosuppressant medications, which may also reduce the immune system’s ability to fight infections and could cause a secondary immunodeficiency.
The saying, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” can be true. Some research demonstrated that undernourishment and nutritional deficiencies of zinc, selenium, iron, copper, folic acid, and vitamins A, B6, C, D and E have remarkable influences on immune system responses.
We are currently experiencing a pandemic that is extremely contagious and has killed many people. Much of us feels helpless and frightened. But there is something we can do: take care of yourself by leading a healthy lifestyle, rest and exercise as needed.
As Dr. Mark Hyman says in his webinar. – “There are two parts that play an important role in contracting the virus. (the virus and the host)”. In order for the virus to grow and develop, it needs favorable conditions. “We cannot control the virus, but we can control the host, which is us.” The terrain where the virus lands is the key, our organism is the key, if the virus does not find the favorable conditions to develop, it dies. Let me repeat that: If the terrain is unsuitable due to a strong immune system, the virus cannot develop and dies, but if the virus finds a weak and compromised immune system due to the high consumption of processed foods and sugars, then the virus becomes stronger and can destroy us.
Dr. Hyman refers to any type of Virus including COVID-19
For more information, I include the link from his latest webinar: https://youtu.be/1L1XsoJD-YM
In simple words, a virus is an infectious agent that can only multiply within the living cells of a host. The virus by itself dies, in order to progress it must enter a weak organism where it can develop. We cannot do anything against viruses, but we can help our bodies to be more immune against them.
At this moment that we are going through a pandemic, we must further strengthen our immune system. Forget the soda, the delicious cake, the glazed donuts. Invest in your health by nourish your tramadol buy online body with whole, unprocessed foods and eliminate sugars. At least for the moment, limit the use of sugars. It is proven that sugar consumption suppresses the immune system and makes us more susceptible to contracting viruses and bacteria.
I would like to add an exception to this rule of healthy eating and it’s the reality that our families that currently living in Cuba are having. They do not have that opportunity; they must buy the food that is available in order to survive, heathy or unhealthy. Even now they cannot receive our help as all food and medicine delivery routes are closed due to the pandemic. This is a sad reality and my thoughts truly are with them in this difficult time. But in other places where we are living there are many options of buying and eating healthier and there are no excuses not to do it.
